Robotics for Ag

The Robotics Initiative is examining how to bring robotics into the fields to perform some of the more back-breaking work currently done by farm workers.  The initiative, under the guidance of Dr. Rudy Darken of the Naval Postgraduate School and Chuck Erickson, former director of the Software Cluster in San Jose, is examining potential areas of use for automation of agricultural processes with John Deere and other providers.  A nation-wide robotics-for-agriculture high school and college competition is currently in the conception stage.   Funding is available and will be sought from the National Science Foundation.
